How does remote work tracking work?+
Qofawork supports distributed teams with screen monitoring, active work sessions, and GPS-verified clock-in. Remote employees start a work session from their dashboard, optionally share their screen for visibility, and clock in/out with a timestamp. Managers can see who is live, review session recordings, and verify hours without interrupting the employee.
How does GPS clock-in and clock-out verification work?+
When an employee taps Clock In or Clock Out on the mobile or web app, Qofawork requests their device location and captures the GPS coordinates, accuracy radius, and timestamp alongside the time entry. Each job site can have a radius, and a punch made outside it is flagged as out of zone, alerts managers, and shows on the dashboard, the shift history, and the hours used for pay stubs — work is never blocked, it is reviewed. Location is only captured at the moment of a punch or an active shift check-in — not continuously in the background.
What happens if an employee denies location access or has poor GPS?+
If the device blocks location, the punch is flagged as 'location unavailable' and routed to a manager for review instead of being silently accepted. Weak GPS signals are recorded with their accuracy radius so managers can see how precise the reading was and approve, reject, or ask the employee to re-punch from a better signal.
Can employees request changes to their shifts?+
Managers and supervisors create and edit shifts with drag-and-drop scheduling. Employees can view their own schedule in real time and, if enabled by the company, request a change to their own shift or ask for coverage. All changes are tracked with an audit trail showing who made the change and when.
How does payroll calculate hours and overtime?+
Qofawork pulls approved clock-in/out entries and applies your configured pay rates, overtime rules, and break policies. Payroll staff can review calculated hours, generate pay stubs, and export data for external payroll providers. Every calculation is logged so you can trace pay from clock-in to paycheck.
How does screen monitoring work?+
Screen monitoring is designed for remote and work-from-home teams. During an active work session the employee starts a screen share from the Work Session page, and Qofawork records the shared screen in short encrypted segments that are stored against that session. Managers and admins can review recordings from the Monitoring page, and every recording is tied to the employee, date, time, and duration for a clear audit trail.
Do employees know when they are being monitored?+
Yes. Screen monitoring is always consent-based. The employee explicitly picks which screen, window, or tab to share through their browser's standard sharing prompt, sees a persistent recording indicator while the session is active, and can stop sharing at any time. Nothing is captured before they accept the prompt, and nothing is captured after they stop the session.
Is monitoring active outside of work hours?+
No. GPS is only captured on clock-in, clock-out, and shift check-ins, and screen recording only runs while the employee has an active work session with sharing turned on. Ending the session or clocking out stops all capture immediately.
How is monitoring data kept private and secure?+
Location and screen recordings are stored in your company's private workspace and protected by row-level security so only members of your company with the right role — typically admins, managers, and supervisors — can view them. Employees can always see their own time entries and session history. Recordings are retained according to your admin's configured retention policy and can be deleted on request.
